League championship Rules

  1. Only clubs whose financial obligations have been met shall be entitled to enter one or more teams.

2. Applications to enter one or more teams in the League shall be made to the League Secretary and must be accompanied by the subscription due which shall not be returnable.

Each application shall state the home match night for each team, the venue at which the matches shall be played, and the name and address of the Secretary or Secretaries with a telephone number where possible. Where a club enters more than one team the 1st  team shall be designated 1st and additional teams shall be suffixed 2nd, 3rd etc.

3 There shall be an annual registration fee determined by the Management Committee per team payable on registration. All registrations must be made on the appropriate form and forwarded to the designated representative indicated on the form, accompanied by the registration fee and by the closing date indicated on the form.

Non-registered players shall not be allowed to take part in any match. Unless notified to the contrary a player may take part in any match after he or she has been registered prior to the match. No player shall register or play for more than one club in the League at the same time, nor shall any player play in more than one match on the same evening within our league or elsewhere.

Any club playing an unregistered player will forfeit any games won by the unregistered player. A player may be transferred at his or her own request to another club. He or she with the consent of both team secretaries involved should contact the Fixture Secretary to register the said transfer. In the event of a dispute the player or the team shall have the right to appeal to the Management Committee,

A registration or transfer will not normally be allowed after the first half of the season as per fixture list has been completed.

4. Promotion and relegation shall be the top team in the division shall be promoted and the bottom team shall he liable for relegation, in addition the 2nd from the bottom in the higher division and the 2nd from the top in the lower division will play off over 2 legs home and away to decide the 2nd promotion place. In the event of a tie for the championship, promotion or relegation will be decided by the number of games won, lost or drawn.

5. All teams shall provide suitable accommodation, equipment and lighting facilities.

Complaints against any of these factors shall be investigated by not less than 3 members of the Management Committee, who shall not be connected or associated with the club concerned.

In the event of a team not fulfilling an engagement the Management Committee will rule on the result.

All matches must be played as per fixture book unless both teams involved agree a date to bring the match forward or agree a date to play the match by Sunday pm of the following week. The fixture week runs from Monday am to Sunday pm. If this cannot be accommodated the offending team canceling the match will be deducted 3 points from their league total to date with the non­ offending team being awarded a minimum of 3 points with any further additions at the discretion of the Management Committee based on previous meetings between the two teams.

Any resulting issues on cancelled matches or indeed any grievances between teams will be dealt with by the Management Committee whose decisions will be final.

Score cards must be posted to the Fixture Secretary within 24 hours of the match completion by the home team secretary.

6. Secretaries must submit a team ranking list (see averages sheet for previous season to help with this) to the Fixture Secretary prior to the first league match. Where a club has several teams a player can play for any team providing he is not deemed to be strengthening the team. Fixture Secretary will notify the club that the new list has been accepted.

Players shall be allowed to assist another team a number of times provided the strength of the team is not improved and subject to the Management Committee approval. However once a player has assisted another team on 3 occasions he can only play with that team for the rest of the season.

Failure to comply with any of the above clauses may result in penalization at the discretion of the Management Committee.

7. Teams shall consist of three players each player shall play each member of the opposing team in the order of the scorecard. In addition one doubles match will be played which may include a 4th registered player who may play in doubles only.

All teams to state start time which must he between 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm.

All matches shall start at the stated start time. If, after 15 minutes a team is not represented, the opposing team shall have the option of claiming the match and points.

If at any time 45 minutes after the allotted start time all possible sets have been played and the continuity of the match is held up due to the absence of players, the team with all players present shall have the option of claiming the unplayed sets.

The sets of any player not present by 90 minutes after the allotted start time will go by default to the opposing team.

The names of players listed on the score sheet shall not be altered after the commencement of the match, except to include a reserve player called upon to play who shall continue to play through the match

8. The season should end 7 days after the commencement of the first day of the final week as printed in the handbook. Games played after this date and before the commencement of the next season shall be declared void.

9. No team is allowed to cancel a match because its players are taking part in a game organised by another league or organisation except when representing the Mid-Cheshire League Team. Any game thus affected should be played as soon as possible but before the end of the season.

10. Teams from the same club in the same division shall play each other in the first part of each half of the season

11. Any points not herein covered shall be decided by the Management Committee.

CLAIMS

Any claims must be made in the following manner:

The claimant must inform in writing the Fixture Secretary and the Secretary of the opposing team giving reasons for the claim.

If the Secretary of the offending team wishes to dispute the claim he must inform in writing the Fixture Secretary before the next Management Committee Meeting.

If the above procedure is not complied with the claim will be disallowed.
